Light Painting Assignment

Wednesday I gave light painting a second try. It was pretty unsuccessful because I bought brand new flashlights that had little power and color cellophane that didn’t give off very bright colors. Luckily the next day I was able to borrow some better flashlights and some really cool color slips that let off bright colors. So thursday night I attempted light painting for the 3rd and final time and it was very successful. I grabbed two friends of mine and headed to Ronald Reagan park not knowing exactly what to shoot at first, and I ended up wanting to light paint everything there. It was just too much fun and we probably spent 2 and 1/2 hrs out there and didn’t get home til’ about 2am. The one thing that’s the hardest thing to do is trying to focus on a subject through your viewfinder in the dark. Anyways, here’s the result. The first 3 photos are the ones I’m trying to decide on to turn in for the assignment. I can only pick one of course, but I like all 3. I did the exposure for around 30 seconds. The other photos are just ones I did for fun.

Other Images I did for fun-

This one didn’t come out very sharp of course, but I feel like it looked really cool anyways.-

Valentines Day

Yesterday I ended up spending Valentines Day with the dearly departed at the beautiful Oakland Cemetery. I’ve been there many times but I’ve never had the time to actually experience and explore the place like I did today. I spent a few hours of the day shooting photos for a class assignment and decided to hit up the Cemetery just for fun. I usually don’t have such a great Valentines day, not from being single, it just always ends up being a crap day from something shitty happening. But yesterday was loads of fun! Anyways, here’s some photos I took. I did some quick editing to them.

Today was quite a busy day. First of all I had to finish an assignment for my visual theory class. Then after that was done I had to of course go pick up the new Bleeding Through album “The Great Fire” that came out today, which is amazing by the way. Then finally I had to ponder a subject to shoot for a photo competition. The theme was you had to choose from the design principles line, symmetry, or repetition. I ended up going with repetition. Repetition is a repetitive pattern. I ended up heading to Krispy Kreme where I of course got me a yummy donut and then was fortunately able to photograph the donuts thanks to the nice lady there. It’s always questionable on being able to photograph places, because people often look at you like you’re a criminal or a spy and want to wreck havok or something. Anyways, I’ve never entered a photography competition and It was just announced to my class Monday and I had to turn it in by tonight. So I was running on a very small amount of time, but I think I did ok for the amount of time I had especially thanks to Crystal who I think I’ll deem as my assistant haha. Even if I don’t win I’m just proud of myself that I made the effort, since it’s something I haven’t done before. But wish me luck!

Created a page on wordpress for my multimedia class. I will be posting on it regularly. Mostly multimedia, photography related things. Take a look- Nitemaryphoto.wordpress.com

Hello

I have a personal page on here now where I post randomness, writings, and just stuff that I fancy! Haha so check it out and follow… www.nitemary.tumblr.com

So I thought since I haven’t posted on here in awhile, I’d post my final project I did for my photo imaging class. I had to create a mythical creature by compositing different photos together in photoshop. Well, I didn’t really like my final outcome that I turned in. So I decided to improve it just for fun. I originally had a different set of wings which just looked awkward and were harder to work with. And I also just added some different effects to the photo to make it a little more mystical.

Been awhile

It’s been awhile since I’ve posted anything on here. As you can see I changed my photo name to something shorter, just trying it out for the time being and I’ll see if I like it.

Sooo, since I haven’t posted anything on here in awhile, I thought I’d post a few of the photos I took from my trip to Graceland. I’ll try to make a point to update on here more often. Maybe I’ll start posting some work that I’m working on or have worked on from my classes.

Abandoned paint factory… This place is absolutely amazing. It’s huge! The paint mixers are still there and there is tons of graffiti everywhere! I’ll try to post more photos from the place later. But this one is one of my favorite!
